Burton Snowboards R.E.D. catalog
Retouching / Project Management / Print Production : Image options were requested by the AD due to poor original photography of Olympian Shaun White. Proposed many concepts; produced a tone-on-tone black image visible with dull and gloss varnishes over 4/color black. Printed in 6/colors using a strike-through process. Text pages were printed on a 10/color press, using CMYK, PMS Red, two PMS Grays, spot Dull varnish and flood gloss varnish.
The Detroit Seal restoration
Retouching / Project Management : The original image was drawn on a city map from 1899 restored for reproductions for The Detroit Mercantile Company. The oval version of the seal is rare. Special attention was given to restore it for the map and was later used in wearables and other items.
Vector Illustration : The original logo was designed in 3D without regard for end-usage in print, embroidery and other needs. I produced this version in Vector paths without any raster imagery for scalability and sharpness at any size. A simplified embroidery version was also provided.
Design / Photography / Illustration / Print Production :
Designing for a new business with growing needs required this photo-realistic rose to be built as Vector art. Photography of the rose is on the lower right with the vector rose showing one of the gradient mesh paths on the left. The final art was small in filesize and scalable to any size.

Mitsubishi Electric catalog
Illustration / Print Production / Project Management : Photo illustrated lighting and produced final art using stochastic screening and 2/color PMS imagery, printed in 6/colors to separate the background black from 4/color black in product and text elements. Stochastic screening was required for smooth gradations and to eliminate the moiré pattern which would have appeared in the speaker grills if printed with a conventional dot. The die-cut diamond registered with the image on Page 1.
Retouching / Illustration / Color Correction / Print Production / Spot color integration : Production of the catalog included the use of a 2/color background on product pages to separate from 4/color product and photography for best color reproduction on-press. The swatches were built in photoshop with clipping paths for the specific number of swatches per product. The fit charts were also built with clipping paths to simulate punch cards with sloppy placement throughout each card. All product and swatches were built with composite 1/color shadows for consistent reproduction overprinting the duotone background.
Retouching / Print Production / Grand Format OOH :
Announcing the 2011 North American Car of the Year, Chevy rushed this large 3D installation on the exterior of the COBO entrance to the Auto Show. Four versions were produced overnight because the award was announced during press week. All-nighter in its finest form.
